Suno's one-shot sound maker
Suno Sounds: AI Sound Effect Generator from Text
Foley, ambiences and drum hits from a prompt of up to 500 characters.
Sounds is the Create mode Suno added for single samples instead of songs. Name the sound in a few plain words, like a glass smash or footsteps on wood, and get a one-shot clip back.

- Text
One sound, not a whole song
Built for single samples
Suno's song models write whole tracks. Sounds goes the other way: one short clip for one job, like a door slam, a riser or a single kick drum. That makes it a fit for an edit timeline or a sampler.
Sound words work best
Suno's own advice is to keep prompts short and use the words sound designers use: whoosh, glitch, rumble, crash, bark, kick drum, ambiance. If you want a set length, say it in the prompt, for example 'a 5 second long sound of…'.
Steer it when it drifts
Suno calls Sounds experimental, so a prompt can come back as something else. A plain 'coffee shop' can turn into lo-fi music. Name the parts you want to hear, like chatter and clinking cups, and generate again.

Suno Sounds vs Suno V6 songs
Both run on Suno on PicX. Pick the one that matches the length of what you need.
Suno's app also offers a seamless Loop type with BPM and key settings for Sounds. Those settings are not available on PicX yet, so PicX makes one-shots.

Suno Sounds questions
Can Suno make sound effects?
Yes. Suno added a mode called Sounds on January 27, 2026 for making single samples instead of songs. Suno's examples include an airhorn, a glass smash, footsteps, a lion roar, rain on a window and an 808 kick. On PicX it runs as Suno Sounds, separate from the Suno V6 song model.
What is Suno Sounds?
It is Suno's text-to-sound mode. You describe a sound and it returns a short clip. In Suno's app you choose between One Shot (single effects) and Loop (repeating musical parts or beds). PicX currently makes One Shot sounds.
How do I use Suno Sounds?
Open Suno Sounds in PicX Studio, type a short description and generate. Suno's tips: be specific but brief, use common sound words like whoosh, rumble, crash or kick drum, and put a length in the prompt if you need one, in the form '5 second long sound of…'.
What are good Suno sound effect prompts?
Name a single sound and its texture: 'footsteps on a wooden floor', 'digital glitch effect', 'medium-sized dog barking', 'tight clap sample'. For an ambience, list what you should hear in it. 'Busy cafe, cups clinking, soft chatter' works better than 'coffee shop', which Suno says can come back as lo-fi music.
Is Suno Sounds still in beta? Why do some sounds come out wrong?
Suno calls Sounds experimental and says it is still being refined for accuracy, so some takes miss. Shorten the prompt, name the parts you are missing and try again. Suno also notes that an off-target result can still be a usable sound.
Can Suno Sounds make loops with a set BPM and key?
In Suno's own app, yes: the Loop type takes a tempo and a musical key. Those controls are not available on PicX yet. PicX sends your prompt only and returns a one-shot sound.
Is there a free AI sound effect generator with no sign-up?
PicX asks you to create an account, and each sound is paid for with credits; the free welcome generation is an image, not audio. What you skip is the Suno subscription: Suno's own app keeps Sounds behind its Pro and Premier plans, while PicX credits do not expire.
Can I use AI-generated sound effects in videos and games?
Yes. Sounds made on a paid PicX Studio plan can be used in your videos, games and other projects; see our terms for the details.
